Playwriting and Performance Tutor Brian Conaghan

The Playwriting and Performance course aims to introduce students to the mechanics and processes of writing for the theatre. It will endeavour to nurture students' playwriting and performance skills through a series of workshops that will include Improvisation, Devising, Script Work, Writing Exercises, Thematic Investigation and Research. As the course develops students will have an opportunity to present individual and/or group writing pieces to their peers for textual and theatrical analysis/evaluation. This will seek to enrich students' writing, leading to more polished texts and performances. With participation in the Playwriting and Performance course we hope to engage in the needs and requirements of each individual student as well as providing a platform whereby students can develop additional composite theatre skills in Directing, Stage Craft, Set, Costume, Lighting Design and Stage Management. No previous experience is necessary for this course, beginners are most welcome.
